I've been testing the Dice mobile app for Android the last several months to see if it was as good as advertised. I'm happy to report it's a pretty good app. The app allows you to login to your job seeker account on Dice.com to access Dice TechTalk, saved jobs, saved cover letters (up to 5), job search agents, and the latest tech news from the Dice Blog Network. Search is fast and job description expansion works well even with a small click area on a touch screen. Results can be filtered by location, keyword, travel required, telecommute options, and more. You can even apply to jobs right from the app if you like (This is why you get access to your saved cover letters).

The Dice mobile app is perfect if you're only looking for jobs on Dice. I hope you find your best job on Dice (since I write for them) but chances are, you're probably using several job boards in your quest. Evernote is a handy cloud-based note service that can help. You can add notes from the native Evernote program, your browser or from the mobile device of your choice. I use the Evernote mobile app to save information from my research and as a word processor.

Evernote notes can be text, audio, links, or images. I suggest creating a new notebook called Job Search, but you can organize your information how ever you like. Inside your Job Search notebook you can add a web clip of each job desciption found, then tag with the job title or industry. Organizing your resumes and cover letters by industry or desired job title ahead of time can make applying from your device quick and easy.

If want to automate the search and save process, you can do that too. Most modern job boards offer an RSS feed of newly posted positions. Your Dice.com account can send email alerts or generate an RSS feed from search agents you set up. Using ifttt.com you can automatically add newly posted positions from an RSS feed or email alerts to your job search notebook in Evernote. You can define parameters in your ifttt task to ensure only the most relevant information is posted to your notebook and filed under the appropriate tag. With ifttt.com you can add relevant results from a varitey of sources, not just email and RSS, to your Evernote job search notebook. To get you started, I created an ifttt recipe to automatically save newly posted Android Developer jobs to Evernote. Ifttt tasks run every 15 minutes and can be toggled on or off easily. Only new items will show up in your notebook.

With a little automation, you can easily find new job listings in your sleep and apply during lunch from anywhere.

The official description reads like this: "FancyUpload is a file-input replacement which features an unobtrusive, multiple-file selection menu and queued upload with an animated progress bar. It is easy to setup, is server independent, completely styleable via CSS and XHTML and uses MooTools to work in all modern browsers."

Ajax is so nice.
